Overview
Primary 1 introduces young learners to the basic foundations of Mathematics and Science through fun, hands-on, and everyday learning experiences. The programme helps students build early number sense, simple problem-solving skills, and curiosity about the world around them.
In Mathematics, students learn to recognise numbers, count, compare quantities, and understand simple shapes and patterns. They begin to develop confidence in working with basic addition and subtraction in meaningful, real-life situations.
In Science, students explore their immediate environment by observing plants, animals, objects, and daily phenomena. They are encouraged to ask questions, make simple observations, and describe what they see using basic scientific language.
Across both subjects, Primary 1 focuses on building curiosity, careful observation, and clear thinking. Students are guided to express their ideas, follow simple instructions, and develop good learning habits that prepare them for higher levels of study.
